Impacted Resident Testimony

I was one of those kids

Impacted Coloradans are suffering from cumulative health impacts of oil and gas operations being conducted in our neighborhoods. This isn’t theoretical. It’s actual. And happening now, today, along the Front Range.

In September 2017, Crestone undertook a plug and abandon operation 25 yards away from a school playground in Erie. The official COGCC report says that it observed “Volatile Organic Compounds visibly drifting toward the children in the playground.”

II was one of those kids on the playground. Throughout that week I had multiple asthma flares. Here is what an asthma flare feels like. My chest is tight, and my breaths are short, and I feel light headed. Sometimes medicines can make me feel worse before I feel better. It’s important for kids to be able to grow up in a healthy environment, knowing that they’re breathing clean air.
